Vounetz – a mountain destination with views of the Gruyère region

Description

Vounetz lies above Charmey. The mountain destination is a real natural paradise, offering a wide range of things to do. No matter whether that’s panoramic hikes suitable for a range of abilities, adrenaline-fuelled zip line trips or indulging in gourmet delicacies in the restaurant at the summit – the panoramic views accompany you whatever you choose to do.
The popular Vounetz mountain destination is situated in the heart of the Jauntal Valley, above the village of Charmey. A cable car transports visitors to the approx. 1,610-metre peak. The view from the upper station extends out across the entire Gruyère region, with the Moléson, the Dents Vertes, the Lac de Montsalvens Reservoir and the Jaunbach Gorge in the background.
In summer, the Vounetz mountain is a real natural paradise. Various hiking trails, ranging from leisurely to challenging, invite you to discover the verdant landscapes surrounding the peak. Making the ascent up to the Vounetz by foot from Charmey is particularly worthwhile. Hikers can reach the summit in a little over two hours, where they will be rewarded with fantastic 360-degree views. The kids’ hill, with its giant wooden toys, footprint game and many more exciting activities offers families fun and games for all age groups.
Thrill-seekers can challenge themselves in the famous valley of the zip lines. 15 zip lines, covering a 400-metre descent, are ready to whisk you from the upper station to the middle station. And if that’s still not enough, you can also enjoy the suspension rope park in the trees or the via ferrata. Adrenaline is guaranteed with the Powerfan jump and the quick jumps 13 metres off the ground. A tandem or solo flight from the upper station by paraglider offers a descent of an entirely different kind.

In winter, skiers and snowboarders of all levels can let off some steam on around 30 km of ski slopes. From the nursery slopes for beginners to untouched slopes for fans of freeriding, there truly is something for everyone. Numerous snowshoe tours and ski touring routes offer more adventures off piste.

And the summit restaurant Les Dents-Vertes is on hand to provide culinary delights. On the terrace, guests can enjoy a well-earned break, with panoramic views of the whole valley. In the warmer months (from mid-June to around mid-September), those interested in the life of cheese makers can gain insights into cheese production in the Vounetz chalet. In the alp dairy, which has been home to the Piller family for over 18 years, guests can learn all about the traditions of Alpine cheese production. And, of course, this should be accompanied by a tasting of Le Gruyère d’Alpage AOP, which is produced on site.
