Crossing the Great St. Bernard Hill

  • Image 1

Description

The thousand-year-old hospice in Great St. Bernard is the point of departure for this hike.
The dogs descended from the legendary Barry welcome visitors in their usual friendly manner. The museum and the precious hospice are a gentle start, before going in the general direction of Italy for a few kilometres and returning to Switzerland via the three mirror-like lakes offering spectacular reflections of the surrounding mountains. The descent into the village of La Fouly provides a touch of colour as the wild flowers spring up in Val Ferret. Tasting alpine cheeses and the lively atmosphere in the village restaurants will revive you a little and prepare you for your return journey.

How to get there:
Take the TMR SA bus for the Great St. Bernard hill. The return leg is by TMR SA bus from La Fouly, which will take you back to the starting point in Orsieres. Orsieres is on the Great St. Bernard Express line.
