Silvretta Arena – double-decker cable car

Description

Unlimited fun and adventure for active types, explorers, children and families. Numerous hiking and biking routes follow the barely visible border between Switzerland and Austria.
A quick and easy route to the best views in the triangle where France, Germany and Switzerland meet. The Samnaun Twinliner was the world’s first double-decker cable car. Built in just five months, since 1995 the cable car has been carrying 180 people per trip from the Samnaun-Ravaisch valley station (1,778 metres above sea level) to Alp Trida Sattel (2,500 metres above sea level). It is also the gateway to the cross-border Silvretta Ski Arena, which connects Samnaun in Switzerland with Ischgl in Austria.

In summer, the arena is transformed into a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers. The approximately 250 kilometres of hiking trails offer numerous views of the valleys and peaks of the Silvretta, along with insights into the area’s rich flora with over 900 plant species.
