Description

The Seebad lakeside baths offer perfect seasonal bathing pleasure in the heart of the city of Lucerne. It is open for swimmers until 8 p.m. in summer, after which it is dedicated to restaurant-goers for the rest of the evening. As well as bathing, swimming, and sunbathing, massage and yoga are also available.
On Lucerne’s high-profile Nationalquai, right in front of the historic hotel buildings, bathers can take a refreshing dip in the pristine waters of the lake, exercise and relax on the sun deck or in the shade.

From the outside, the structure, which dates back to 1884/85, just looks like a huge wooden box, but once you cross the footbridge into the interior you will immediately succumb to the charm of a wonderful Belle Epoque bathing space. The wooden structure contains simple changing facilities around the two internal areas with lake water pools. If they swim towards the lake, bathers will soon find themselves in open water.

The Seebad is particularly busy at weekends, during lunch hour and in the evenings, when people are looking for some refreshment during their break or after work. There is an impressive unobstructed view of the Pilatus, the KKL Culture and Convention Centre and Lucerne train station on the lake side and from the roof terrace. A simple restaurant and bar service round off the available facilities.
Getting there: By train to Lucerne. Bus no. 6/8/24 from the train station, direction “Verkehrshaus/Lido/Würzenbach”, “Casino Palace” stop. By car (“Casino-Palace” and “National” parking garages).
