Description

The San Michele Park sits high above Lugano and offers spectacular views of the city, the lake and the mountains. The typically southern vegetation is sure to thrill many of its visitors too.
This park, with 12,000 square metres of green space, sits in Castagnola, on the slopes of Monte Brè. It is known not only for its beauty but also its wonderful architectural elements: the chapel dedicated to San Michele, the rustic cottage and a number of stone sculptures.

Behind the chapel dedicated to San Michele, you’ll find the main terrace of the park. From this privileged position, you can admire the gulf of Lugano, the lakefront and Monte San Salvatore. The view extends as far as the peaks of the Alps in a variety of shapes and colours that glow incandescent as the sun goes down. On the left-hand side, the view stretches from Melide, Campione and Bissone to the plains of the river Po.

San Michele Park also offers rich vegetation: its paths lead through typical southern vegetation such as wisteria, oleander, oak, elm, hornbeam, ash and laurel trees.
