Founded in 1991, the gallery is located in the heart of the Old Town of Chur. About seven exhibitions by individual artists and group exhibitions are held each year.

The exhibition programme also reflects the diversity of possible themes within contemporary art, as well as such different forms of expression as photography, painting, drawing, sculpture/object, installation, video and new media. At the same time, the programme focuses on the presentation of contemporary Swiss art.
