Even today, the Olympia Piste reminds one of the 1948 Olympic Winter Games in St. Moritz. Back then the Corviglia Chantarella downhill run placed extreme demands on skiers. Connoisseurs still regard the original route as an insider tip.

When St. Moritz hosted the 1948 Winter Olympics the Alpine races were held on Corviglia. The men's downhill to Chantarella was regarded as being particularly difficult. Today's Olympic piste follows the original route to a large extent. Because the ski area has grown significantly since then, it is now located more on the edge. This has the advantage that it is much less crowded than the other slopes and skillful skiers can therefore take their swing turns without being disturbed.
